BATON ROUGE - State Representative John Schroder, R-Covington, wants to hear directly from state employees about how to make government more efficient.
Over the next several weeks, the Governor's 2013-14 budget will be discussed in the House Appropriations Committee. All government departments as well as the general public have been invited to participate, but Schroder wants to hear directly from state employees. Schroder has created an email suggestion box to hear directly from state employees on ways to help improve the state's financial crisis. "Hearing directly from the State workers about ways to save money and make government more accountable is paramount in getting our state's fiscal house in order." Schroder said. "These are the people who are doing the job. No one could possibly give us more insight than them."
Schroder has set up a special email address for comments and is encouraging state employees to send him their thoughts and concerns regarding all aspects of government efficiency. Individuals can send their comments to email@example.com. According to state employee regulations, which govern the use of state equipment and allowable activities during work hours, state employees must respond on their own time and with their own computers.
