Lafayette Education Foundation is offering the 2012-2013 Grant Application to all Lafayette Parish public schools. Teachers at each school can apply for two types of grants, Classroom Grants which impact a single class (maximum budget of $1000) or School Impact Grants which can impact a grade level, subject level or an entire school (maximum budget of $5000). To meet the changing needs of the classroom, LEF Grants are now divided into two categories: Innovative Approaches to Learning and Basic Skills Grants. Grants are awarded based upon academic value and measurability of success LEF grants offer educators the opportunity to enhance the learning experience, facing the challenges of today's classroom with adequate resources. "The grants have helped by allowing me a chance to have more materials and to make the topic more interesting to students," reports Brandy Welsh, past grant recipient. The majority of grants are written for projects that span the entire year and often the materials can be used for consecutive years. The LEF grant process is an extremely effective method of putting academic dollars for children directly into the classrooms. The application includes specific guidelines and requirements for the LEF Grant Cycle. The deadline to apply for an LEF Grant is March 9, 2012. The application is currently available on the LEF website at www.lefoundation.org.
