MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - Walter C. Lee, a member of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, will be a candidate for re-election in the fall elections.
Lee has served on the board for several years, as vice president and chairman of many of the standing committees. He represents nine parishes in north Louisiana, including Caddo, Bienville, Bossier, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Vernon and Webster.
While much improvement has been made in academic achievement in recent years, Lee said in his announcement over the weekend much more needs to be done.
Lee tells The Times Northwest Louisiana supports improved education reform and with continued strong leadership and support, growth will continue with more attention to early childhood education and increased graduation rates.
