LEDA Job Fair set for May 21st

The 19th annual LEDA Job Fair will be held May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.

Employers will be on hand to screen potential job candidates. This is the largest job recruitment event in Acadiana. Last year 116 companies, from all sectors of business and industry, participated in the event and similar numbers are expected this year. Since its inception, hundreds of Acadiana's top employers have successfully recruited job candidates at the one-day event.

"LEDA works diligently to secure a good cross-section of employers, reflective of the region's business base," says Gregg Gothreaux, LEDA President and CEO. "These companies are offering jobs ranging from entry-level to executive, from those needing little training to those requiring advanced degrees."

The E-Application Station, sponsored by the Louisiana Workforce Commission- Business and Career Solutions Center, will be available allowing job seekers to apply for positions available at participating companies, in addition to searching and applying for thousands of additional jobs in the region and throughout the state.

The series of free job seeker seminars at the LEDA Job Fair has been expanded with new providers. Facet will lead a seminar at 10:00 a.m. about Preparing for Different Types of Interviews. Career Consultant Danielle Dayries returns at 11:00 a.m. with her popular résumé writing seminar, How to Write a Powerful Résumé. At 1:00 p.m., Laurie J. James concludes the seminar series with her program, I've Submitted a Resume...Now What? The seminars are held in the job fair exhibit hall. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seminar seating is limited.

"The LEDA Job Fair is an excellent opportunity to meet face to face with hiring managers from multiple employers all on one day and in one place," says Ryan LaGrange, LEDA Director of Workforce Development. "We hear success stories every year following the job fair from both job seekers and employers. This event continues to have a tremendous impact on the community, assisting both job seekers and businesses."
