Leadership St. Mary teaches community leaders about law enforcement

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce co-hosted Leadership St. Mary, an event designed to educate leaders about different businesses and government agencies throughout St. Mary Parish.

The event promotes active leadership over the course of a few months, allowing a group of community leaders to visit business and government offices while learning how each of them integrates into operations parish-wide. Participants visited SMPSO headquarters at the courthouse in Franklin, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Shooting Range, and St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.

Capt. Jonathan Booth demonstrated some of the tools, including the TASER, used by law enforcement agencies . A deputy volunteered to take part in this learning opportunity and even allowed the experience to be shared on social media.
