Le Feu et l'Eau (Fire and Water) Rural Arts Celebration is an event hosted by NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. This event takes place on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 11am until 11pm in Arnaudville. Fire and Water Rural Arts Celebration is a one day event that showcases creative talent produced primarily in Acadiana as well as the French culture. Born following the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Fire and Water originally featured signature floating fires and showcased the work of visual artists with only a sampling of other artistic disciplines; however, over the last several years the event has expanded to become more of a celebration featuring a multitude of artists, performers and cultural workers in a variety of disciplines and genres. Originally based at the Junction of Bayous Teche and Fuselier, the event was moved to its current location at the old Singleton Lumber building last December following a devastating fire that destroyed its home base, Town Market Rural Arts Centre. By celebrating Fire and Water we encourage creativity, strengthen community partnerships, promote the arts, and support artists. In an attempt to call attention to the value of Louisiana's many waterways, our ultimate goal is to one day set the bayous ablaze again with functioning public art pieces. Given the international nature of the celebration, global voices always find expressions at Le Feu et l`Eau. Free and open to public - musical performances, art workshops, family oriented event. Involves Arnaudville merchants who host jams, poetry readings, art displays and demonstrations as well as activities at NUNU facility.
