The border battle between Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes is now headed to district court.
On Monday, Lafayette Consolidated Government sued the Vermilion Parish Police Jury over the location of the western boundary between the parishes. LCG is asking Judge John Trahan to determine exactly where the border lies.
In February, the Lafayette City-Parish Council voted to reset the border farther south and west after it decided to withdraw from a 2003 boundary agreement it had with the Vermilion Parish Police Jury.
The Lafayette City-Parish Council will discuss the lawsuit in an executive session tonight after its regular board meeting .
