If you regularly drive on Dulles Dr. near Wesgate Rd., you'll have to find an alternate route indefinitely. The Lafayette Consolidated Government Public Works Department is evaluating damage after a crane truck went off the bridge on Dulles and fell into a ditch Thursday morning. Public Works Street Superintendent Jeff Olivier says the bridge is "unsafe for driving at this time." The bridge is between Westgate Rd. and Domingue St.
Two panels of the concrete driving surface are damaged, and the railing on one side of the bridge was wiped out. Olivier says employees and an outside engineer are evaluating the damage to determine if the bridge can be repaired or if it'll have to be replaced.
