City-Parish President Joey Durel wants to cut ties with the City of Broussard. He made the announcement at tonight's Lafayette Consolidated Government meeting saying the relationship between LCG sand Broussard is antagonistic.
Effective immediately, LCG will no longer allow Broussard to tap into new meter points on Lafayette's system and LCG will no longer provide dispatch for fire services and will no longer provide animal control services.
Broussard Mayor Charles Langlinais tells KATC, "Who is he representing? Does he represent anybody from Broussard? Isn't he a parishwide representative?" Langlinais said Broussard pays property tax to the parish and pays its share of animal control.
As for what happens now, the mayor said he doesn't know what the city can and can't do about Durel's decision. KATC will get answers from Broussard's attorney.
