Lafayette Consolidated Government approved a resolution that will give $253,000 to social service agencies and culture groups.
The purpose of the funding is to enhance the economic, social educational and culture welfare of the citizens of Lafayette Parish.
The agencies and groups range from Children Museum of Acdiana to Big Brothers Big sisters of Acadiana requested more than $700,000 for operation support, educational programs and other projects.
The applications to request funding are reviewed by two panels. The Acadiana Center for the Arts Culture Review Panel and LCG's Community Development Social Services Review Panel are responsible for evaluating all applications and to recommend which agencies should receive funding.
Festival Acdiens et Creole requested funds for operational support and a new stage were denied funding.
