On Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 7:49am the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a call of an Auto-Pedestrian crash in front of Barbe High School on West McNeese Street.
Police say, that a Barbe student was walking from the student parking lot, to the school at the time of the crash. The juvenile was crossing McNeese Street within the crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Police say the driver, Donald Leday, 41, was travelling east bound in the inside (left lane), and did not observe the student in the crosswalk.
Police say, Leday claims the sun glare obscured his vision.
The juvenile was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for what was referred to as Minor Injuries, while Leday was transported to St. Patrick's Hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
Leday was cited for Failure to yield.
