LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach says he plans to present a noise ordinance to the city council that will be easier for police to enforce.
The council last week voted to repeal measures in the old ordinance -- approved in 2003 - that set decibel levels for police to use to determine if noise complaints had merit.
Another ordinance was approved several years later that Roach said superseded the 2003 standards. He said repealing the 2003 law means an end to the use of decibel levels to gauge noise pollution.
Until last week's action, the city had two policies on the regulation of noise.
The American Press reports Roach's administration will present new guidelines during Tuesday's agenda meeting. Work is still being done on the proposed law.
