SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Defense attorney Taylor Townsend says Winn Parish's jailed sheriff is innocent of federal drug charges and of possible state charges.
The Town Talk of Alexandria reports that Louisiana's attorney general is investigating the way Albert D. "Bodie" Little does business as sheriff. Caddo Parish Assistant District Attorney Hugo Holland leads that investigation. He says it's unrelated to the federal allegations and could involve charges such as malfeasance and abuse of office.
The Times of Shreveport (http://bit.ly/pzM0Vw ) reports that Little was jailed Tuesday and will remain in the Caddo Correctional Center at least until a detention hearing Thursday on charges alleging that he distributed methamphetamine.
Townsend, of Natchitoches, tells The Town Talk that the charges and investigation are the result of political enmity because Little is tough on drugs.
