FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - The attorney for a Colorado father who reported his son floated away in a helium balloon says his client and the boy's mother could spend time in jail.
Lawyer David Lane says both parents will plead guilty to some charges in the case. He earlier said in a statement that a plea deal would stipulate probation, but said later Thurday morning that
jail time was also a possiblity.
Lane says Richard Heene will plead guilty in the alleged Oct. 15 hoax to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony. He says Mayumi Heene will plead guilty to false reporting to authorities, a
misdemeanor.
Prosecutors haven't announced whether they've filed charges in the case. A spokeswoman says the district attorney would have a statement later Thursday morning.
