Lawn equipment theft lands 3 in OPD jail

The Opelousas Police Department have booked 3 teenagers for simple burglary.

Officers say the Opelousas Parks and Recreational department notified the Opelousas Police on May 14, to report stolen equipment: a John Deere Zero Turn lawn mower, an X/Mark Zero Turn lawn mower, a John Deere Cushman 4-wheeler and a 16 foot trailer, in which the items were transported in.

Investigators then received a call from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office in regards to a trailer equipped with lawn equipment found at a residence in Lawtell. The equipment was determined to belonged to Opelousas Parks and Recs.

Deputies then arrested 18 year old Tamarick T Collins, 18 year old Javon W Talbert and 18 year old Katericka Freeman. They were all booked for Simple Burglary and issued $20,000 bonds.

Collins and Talbert have bonded out Freeman remains in the OPD jail.
