State leaders are trying to encourage breastfeeding throughout Louisiana while relieving nursing moms on the go.
Representative Scott Simon of Abita Springs and Representative Regina Barrow of Baton Rouge are pushing for the bill that would require all public places to have a private breastfeeding room.
Officials say the nursing room would be an area where mothers can feed their babies privately and safely.
The areas would have to have a lockable door, a chair, a sink and adequate ventilation.
This is a bill some moms with with Lafayette La Leche League say is long over due.
This proposal will be considered during the regular legislative session which starts Monday.
