CODOFIL has a new leader.
The organization's board named Charles Larroque as its new executive director during a meeting Saturday.
Larroque, who has been serving as interim CODOFIL executive director since February, taught French in the public school system for 25 years before retiring in 2012. He has also been involved in the production of Francophone documentaries and other media productions highlighting the French language and culture.
Larroque says one of his goals is to link local schools and their French immersion programs and Acadiana's local French culture with the global cultural economy.
"If I had a slogan, it would be 'French equals jobs," Larroque said.
