LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The port of Lake Charles has requested the dismissal of Pinnacle Enterprises' lawsuit over a lease involving the site of the canceled Sugarcane Bay casino-resort.
The port claims Pinnacle breached the terms of the contract it is now trying to get the courts to enforce.
State District Judge Kent Savoie will hear the matter on Dec. 9.
In late October, Pinnacle, owner of L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort, sued to force the port to comply with an agreement to sell to the company 50 of the 234 acres where Sugarcane Bay was to have been built.
Pinnacle scrapped its Sugarcane Bay project in April and surrendered its riverboat license to the Gaming Control Board.
