LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) Lake Charles police officers responding to a burglary call shot a man inside the house they were called to.
Authorities said the man was pronounced dead at the scene late Tuesday night. His identity has not been released.
State police are investigating the shooting.
Lake Charles Sgt. Mark Kraus tells the American Press that two officers entered to clear the home and a man entered behind them.
Kraus said the officers turned and saw the man, who they said was holding a firearm. He said the officers fired their weapons, believing the man was a threat.
