Lake Arthur Meeting Urges Residents to Leave Low Lying Areas

Town officials expect Lake Arthur to breach the levees at some point over the weekend. A meeting was held Saturday morning to discuss the towns plans moving forward. A curfew has been put into effect immediately from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. No one is to be on the roads during those hours.

If you do live in any of the low lying areas, town officials are asking that you leave the area but it is not mandatory. They also say to take the proper precautions before water comes over the levees by raising your furniture and placing sandbags around your house. The Lake Arthur Police are offering sandbags if needed.

Police will be blocking off certain streets they expect to get the worst flooding. Officials say, "this is as serious as they say it is." We will update road closures as they become available.
