Family members of a man who police say was killed by a drunk driver are now planning a funeral. 28 year old Durry McZeal is now dead as the result of a hit and run. His fiance Lindsey Myers describes him as "full of life and full of fun. No matter how down you were, he would make you laugh in a second."
Mczeal and friends were at the Lake Arthur community center for a class reunion.
They were on their way to Mczeal's car, when an alleged drunk driver sped by. Family members say the car was driving 70mph with its headlights off. It hit McZeal so hard he flew out of clothing, leaving behind his socks, shoes and pants. His family has now placed a vigil, where he landed in Mczeal's honor.
That night authorities found and arrested 26 year old Kurt Dugas but family members say it's no justice to them. "I'm not at peace with it at all, I know him and now he took my cousin away and you know that hurts to bad," said Cousin Jonas Daniel. "I can't get the anger away, I'm so mad, its just not fair," said McZeal's Fiance.
The family plans to have a candle light service at 7pm on Thursday at Mczeal's vigil. Funeral arraignments are being made for Saturday at Antioch Missionary Baptist church in Lake Arthur. The viewing is at 10am and the funeral will start at 2pm.
Kurt Dugas is charged with DWI, hit and run and vehicular homicide. He is booked in the Jeff Davis Parish jail. His bond is set at 300-thousand dollars.

I do believe your report is wrong. The vehicle did have headlights on.

It doesn't matter if or not the car has or had lights on. The fact still remains, there was a drunk man driving a vehicle that has had two DWI's already, whether or not he intended on driving, sleeping, or anything that requires putting the keys inthe ignition! It's wrong, hands Down! He took a life, and should be tried to the maximum sentence by law!

We would like it if everyone would just keep the peace. It was a freak accident an nothing that u could possible do or say will bring durry back to us.Retaliation will not bring Durry back with us,It will only cause more grief an pain and thats not what we want. It's in the laws hand from here, and we would truley appreciate it if you all leave it that way...

I agree with the McZeal Family whole heartly. Find peace in knowing that Durry is now at rest. He is in a much better place and if each of us live our lives according to God's will...we will all be together one day! All of Durry's family and friends will be in everyone's thoughts and prayers. This time God gives us on earth is miniscule compared to the eternity we are promised in Heaven if we live according to his will! May God bless each and every one of you!
God grant us the serenity to accept the things we can not change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I do agree that taking the law into our own hands would ONLY make things worst, but @ da same time JUSTICE needs 2 b served. For ONE, why was this individual even behind the wheel of a vehicle knowing his prior offenses and 2nd of all why was NONE of this put in the newspapers or in the news?!?! Had this been vice versa it would have been like a AMBER alert (I'm sorry, but that is honesty for you). Durry will be MISSED greatly by family and friends, but there is NO justice great enough when you can take another humans life and you or your family have no remorse. I am SOOOO glad that I went far and beyond in getting the news involved to let the public know what was going on in the town of Lake Arthur and how the authorities were trying to cover this up:!)
