MATTHEWS, La. (AP) - The head of Lafourche Parish's building permit office will keep his job.
Frank Morris was hired less than a year ago to bring the parish's permitting office into compliance with state law. But several council members have criticized Morris, saying he has been inflexible and unwilling to help builders and residents as he enforces the codes.
The Daily Comet reports that the Lafourche council voted 6-3 in favor of firing Morris on Tuesday night - that was one vote short of the seven needed to fire a department head under the parish charter.
