Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Deputy Arrested for Allegedly Raping a 6-Year-Old Girl

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A Lafourche Parish sheriff's deputy has
been arrested on allegations that he raped a 6-year-old girl.
The Daily Comet reports 33-year-old David Lewellen, of
Thibodaux, was booked Tuesday night with aggravated rape. He is
being held at the Lafourche jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
Lafourche sheriff's Sgt. Lesley Hill said the victim told a
teacher at school Friday about the alleged inappropriate contact
with Lewellen.
Hill said Lewellen, an eight-year sheriff's office veteran, has
been fired.
It was not immediately known whether Lewellen has an attorney.
