THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Prosecutors are taking evidence about a stabbing death that happened 16 years ago to a Lafourche Parish grand jury.
Thirty-three-year-old Sonny Guidry was arrested last month in the death of 73-year-old Enola Boudreaux. The woman was found stabbed to death in her home in Cut Off in June 1995. Guidry refused to talk to police at the time, according to The Daily Comet.
He was arrested after Lafourche sheriff's deputies said new evidence was turned up. Guidry was booked with first degree murder.
The grand jury was set to hear evidence Thursday.
Guidry's mother, 51-year-old Diane Billiot, has been charged as an accessory after the fact in the case and is awaiting arraignment. District Attorney Cam Morvant says her case is not going before the grand jury.
