Lafourche Parish plans to evaluate its trash collection contract that expires at the end of the year.
The Daily Comet reports a committee is going to consider reducing the roughly $500,000 monthly cost without cutting services, renewing the same contract or finding an alternative.
Solid Waste Director Jerome Danos said his office receives 10 to 15 calls about trash each weekday, with half being complaints.
Though Danos admits there are issues, he said the overall service from Progressive Waste Solutions is good.
