Lafayette School Bus Driver Suspended

UPDATE: Kenny Mire has been suspended for three days without pay. The decision was made at the regular meeting of the Lafayette Parish School Board.

Lafayette Parish school bus driver Kenny Mire will learn his fate in less than 24 hours. Mire was recently arrested for driving his own vehicle while intoxicated but is still being allowed to drive his school bus route.

Superintendent Burnell Lemoine is recommending the school board suspend him for 3 days. The board will make that decision tomorrow.
Also at that meeting changes to the current policy will be introduced. It will require any employee who drives a vehicle for the school system to report any charge of driving under the influence.
Right now. arrests don't have to be reported if the employee is off of the clock.
