Lafayette Public Education Round Table Discussion Series

United Way of Acadiana and partner organizations are hosting a series of moderated round table discussions focused on public education. Participants will have the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas and opinions directly with community stakeholders.

The discussions will focus on developing community priorities for the 2014 Lafayette Parish School Board elections.

Topics will include:

School system governance

Lafayette Parish School Board Turnaround Plan - 100% In, 100 Out

Facilities and equipment

Common Core

Charter schools

All events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Participants are welcome to attend more than one event. To register, click on the links below.

Thursday, March 13 from 5:30 - 7:30 p..m. at Lafayette Science Museum at 433 Jefferson St.

Saturday, March 15 from 10 a.m. - Noon at South Louisiana Community College Auditorium at 1101 Bertrand Dr.

Tuesday, March 18 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at MLK Center at 309 Cora St.

Thursday, March 20 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Cimation at 425 Settlers Trace Blvd., Suite 100

Partner organizations in this effort include the705, 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette, the Community Foundation of Acadiana, Concerned Citizens for Good Government, the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Southwest Louisiana Black Chamber, the State of Greater Black Lafayette and Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation.

If you would like to volunteer as a facilitator, United Way of Acadiana is hosting a facilitator training session Monday, March 10 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. upstairs at the Petroleum Club.
