LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Police in Lafayette say a crook is
targeting elderly homeowners in a repair scam.
The suspect targets elderly women. He tells an intended victim
that her roof needs repairs, and offers to do the job
Police said Wednesday that he typically asks for more than
$3,000. He cashes the check, spends a short time on the roof, then
disappears without making any repairs.
Police say he may be the same man wanted in Jefferson Parish and
in Florida for the same type of crime.
He's described as white, about 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, and in
his late 30s or early 40s. He may be traveling with an older man he
introduces as his father.
