Lafayette Police Rank #1 In OWI Enforcement Statewide

On March 9, 2010, the Lafayette Police Department was recognized by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission in Baton Rouge for its OWI enforcement program in 2009. The Lafayette Police Department ranked #1 for the most OWI arrests in 2009 by an agency within a city that has a population between 100,000 to 199,999. Officer Brant Vice of the Lafayette Police Department ranked #1 with the most OWI arrest in 2009 by an individual officer in a city with the population of 100,000 to 199,999. The statistics are as follows:

Lafayette Police Department OWI Arrests Totals = 613 OWI Arrest
Officer Brant Vice's OWI Arrests = 211 OWI Arrest

In addition to Officer Brant Vice's OWI arrest he also worked 36 Crashes, made 17 arrests for other charges, wrote 1152 citations, and responded to 688 patrol calls in 2009. Since re-instituting the ATAC (Alcohol Traffic Action Campaign) program the Lafayette Police Department is committed to removing impaired drivers from the streets of Lafayette.
