UPDATE: Lafayette Police Murder Investigation

*UPDATE*

A local man is in custody this morning charged with 2nd Degree Murder, following a shooting at 216 Friendship Street. On Thursday, January 7, 2010, at 7:51pm, police responded to the above-mentioned address in reference a male subject being shot in the upper torso. Preliminary information indicated that two men were inside the reported residence cleaning a handgun when it discharged, striking Joshua Kelly (18) in the chest area. The second subject (William Roger Broussard-22) of Lafayette fled the scene following the incident. Police Investigators later secured an arrest warrant for Broussard, charging him with the murder of Kelly. At 2:30am, this morning, Broussard walked into the police department and surrendered to Investigators.

Charge: 2nd Degree Murder

Lafayette Police have responded to a shooting on Friendship Street.

It happened just after 5 PM. Police tell KATC a 19-year-old man was shot in the upper torso and is said to be suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still looking for the shooter. Witnesses say it appears to have been an accident.
