Lafayette Police Make Arrest After Nightclub Stabbing

On March 7, 2010, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a night club in the 500 block of North Pierce Street regarding a stabbing. According to the victim, the suspect was creating a disturbance inside of the building when she was asked to leave the property. The suspect allegedly attacked the victim, a 46 year old male, and stabbed him in the arm and back. A second victim, a 45 year old male, attempted to intervene and received a stab wound to the hand. Both victims were transported to an area hospital and treated for their injuries. The suspect fled the scene immediately and could not be located.

On March 8, 2010, at approximately 12:00 pm, the suspect, Vanity Edmond (21), was arrested without incident by Lafayette Police. Edmond was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for Aggravated Battery 2nd Degree Battery. The case remains under investigation.
