Lafayette police find body in overgrown field

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette police are investigating the discovery of a body in a field behind a local Wal-Mart.
Police tell The Advertiser the body was found Tuesday afternoon by workers cutting down overgrown grass in an open field. They say the unidentified body had been there for an extended period.
Police say the body was taken by the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office to perform an autopsy and determine the victim's exact cause of death. Police say the case remains under investigation.
