The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday April 26, 2014. This is a semi-annual event in which people can turn in unused, unwanted or unnecessary prescription drugs that they have in the medicine cabinets at home. There are no questions asked the prescriptions are taken from the public and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency for safe and proper disposal. This is not a commercial drop off, residential only. Pharmacies and Nursing Homes should visit the DEA website for instructions on disposing of prescription drugs.
LPSO personnel will be supported by Walgreens employees who will provide safety information and tips at the drop off location.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's drop off site will at Lafayette Consolidated Government Building at 705 West University from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM a convenient drive through will be provided for drop offs.
In addition three other drop off points in Lafayette Parish are:
Louisiana State Police Troop I Headquarters at 121 E Pont Des Mouton Road just off of Interstate 49 and Broussard Police is hosting a drop off location at the Walgreens US Hwy 90 East in Broussard.
Scott Police is hosting a drop off location at Walgreens at 5416 Cameron Street, Scott, LA
