Lafayette Parish Deputies Looking for Shooting Suspect

Lafayette Parish Deputies are looking for a St. Martin Parish man wanted in a Lafayette shooting. Deputies say Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:57 pm, Johnny Alexander traveled to an apartment of his ex-girlfriend in the 600 block of Berlin Drive to reconcile their relationship. Deputies say during the conversation, Alexander produced a handgun at which time a 23 year old male roommate of the ex-girlfriend attempted to calm the situation down. Alexander allegedly opened fired on the male who sustained at least 3 gunshot wounds and is being treated at Lafayette Regional Medical Center where he is listed in serious but stable condition. The ex-girlfriend was shot at but not hit; Alexander fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. An arrest warrant charging Alexander with two counts of attempted first degree murder is outstanding and Alexander is considered armed and dangerous.
