A murder suspect wanted in Lafayette is in jail following an early-morning raid of his St. Landry Parish hideout. Carl Phillips was arrested without incident in Cankton after officers from multiple agencies stormed into the home. Phillips is accused of killing John Dean in a July 29 shooting on Goldman Street. Phillips has been transported to the Lafayette Parish Jail, where he is charged with second-degree murder. The Lafayette Police Department, Cankton Police Department, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and S. W. A. T. Team, and the U. S. Marshal's Office took part in the operation.
