Lafayette Man Sentenced for Child Porn

United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today the sentencing of William M. Teich, 32, of Lafayette, La. Teich was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 20 years supervised release for distribution of child pornography. The sentence was imposed by U. S. District Judge Rebecca F. Doherty.
Teich pleaded guilty in October 2010, to distribution of child pornography. The defendant was identified during an investigation by the Lafayette Police Department as
someone who uses a file sharing software (peer-to-peer) to possess and/or distribute child pornography. Detectives executed a search warrant at Teich's residence and found
approximately 21 videos of child pornography downloaded from the internet. During this investigation, the detectives discovered on Teich's computer, one file which was a minor female engaging in sexual intercourse with an adult male. The defendant admitted to downloading this video and placing it in a "shared folder" on his computer for the purpose of distribution with other individuals on the internet using the same file sharing software
(peer-to-peer). The child pornography found on Teich's computer consisted of minors from the ages 3 to 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley stated, "Our office will continue to prosecute those who participate in activities that exploit children."
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Collin Sims.
