LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A Lafayette Parish jury has found Jamal James Carmouche guilty of manslaughter in the September 2010 shooting death of Markus Despanie.
The jury deliberated for about three hours Friday before returning an 11-1 verdict in favor of the reduced charge of manslaughter
Prosecutor Pat Magee said investigators never fully determined why the morning shooting occurred.
Magee tells The Advocate state District Judge Marilyn Castle will sentence Carmouche at a later date.
Carmouche faces a prison sentence of up to 40 years.
