A Lafayette man is accused of sexual acts with a 15-year-old boy he met on facebook. Eric Manuel, 22, was arrested after Kaplan police sent a text message to him, posing as the boy Manuel is accused of befriending. Manuel visited the juvenile's home three times, and that's when the the inappropriate acts happened, Chief Boyd Adams said. The boy later told his parents, and his parents called Kaplan police.
Kaplan police then set up a text message sting. Investigators posed as the boy and sent a text message to Manuel, and the chief said Maunel responded with several more inappropriate conversations. Police were waiting for Manuel when he drove to Kaplan to meet the boy. Manuel, of 113 South Meyers in Lafayette is charged with three counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and one count of computed aided solicitation of a minor. Bond is set at $175,000.
