Lafayette man arrested for allegedly beating guy sleeping at ex-girlfriend's

Sheriff's deputies have apprehended a man accused of entering his ex-girlfriend's home and beating up a guy who was sleeping there.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office executed a warrant for Henry Demette, 47, of Lafayette, originally accusing Demette of an alleged "forced entry into a rear door of his ex-girlfriend's home" in the 5500 block of W.Congress St. where Demette reportedly "found the homeowner and another male subject sleeping," deputies said.

The charges on the warrant were upgraded from home invasion to aggravated assault. Demette turned himself in to deputies Tuesday.

"Demette is accused of producing a pipe and striking the male subject several times. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he received 10 stitches for injuries he received," LPSO spokesperson Kip Judice told KATC via email.
