Lafayette Man arrested after providing .243 Blood Alcohol Content

A Lafayette man was arrested Saturday, August 16 after police noticed he appeared to be driving under the influence.

Scott officers spotted a grey Ford Mustang traveling at high speeds in the 4700 block of Cameron Street.

After initiating the traffic stop officers say the driver ran his vehicle off the roadway, nearly struck a street sign, returned to the road and then came a stop.

Police say, the driver, Randy Smith appeared to be intoxicated and after failing a field sobriety test Smith was placed under arrest.

Smith was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, where he consented to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, providing a breath sample of .243.

Smith is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, open container in vehicle and speeding.
