A Lafayette man is labeled a serial killer after police say they've connected him to three murders.

43-year old Jeffery Lee Guillory was already in the Lafayette Parish jail on an attempted murder charge. Police say they used fingerprint evidence and DNA to connect him to the deaths of three women in Baton Rouge.

Florida Edwards was killed in 1999, Sylvia Cobb in 2001, and Renee Newman in 2002. Guillory also remains a suspect in several other unsolved murders of Baton Rouge women during the same time period.

The public was first asked for help finding Guillory in 2008. He was the subject of a Lafayette CrimeStoppers report following the attack of a woman outside the Walmart Location on the Evangeline Thruway.

We spoke to the victim, Johnnie Martinez, last year after Guillory's arrest. She had gotten off the bus when she says Guillory drug her into a wooded area and beat her.

She suffered injuries to her face and neck and a broken ankle.

Guillory was in the Lafayette jail for this attack when police say DNA evidence linked him to the baton rouge murders.
