Lafayette Junior Leadership Recruitment Begins

Lafayette, LA - Applications are now available for the Lafayette Junior Leadership program.

Lafayette Junior Leadership is a one-of- a-kind youth leadership program which began in 1991 and was developed and organized by a group of Leadership Lafayette graduates led by Dr. Frank J. Culotta. Lafayette Junior Leadership is now a component of Leadership Institute of Acadiana which is a part of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

The participants are high school juniors who apply for the program as sophomores and attend nine sessions from August to April of their junior year. Eligible students are students enrolled in private and public schools or home schooled in Lafayette Parish.

The emphasis is on leadership and programs each covering such topics as parish government, social services and volunteerism, health care, technology, college survival, and a trip to the State Capitol. Students learn leadership and problem solving skills, meet students from other schools in their community, and have worthwhile discussions on community enhancement and making a difference.

Student applications are reviewed and approximately forty (40) students are accepted each year. The program ends with a Graduation celebration to which family and friends are invited.

Applications are available on the Chamber's website at:
