Lafayette Inmate Caught

The inmate who escaped from a Lafayette work detail has been caught.  Only KATC was there when police took him into custody.  Jim Hummel will have a complete wrap-up tonight at 10:00.

More than two hours after an inmate escaped his work detail on the UL campus, the search continues for him.

Tonight K-9, Lafayette Police and UL Police are assisting the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office in the search.

They are looking in the areas of Souvenir Gate and St. Thomas, and Annette and St. Patrick.

33-year old Michael Proctor left his work detail after 3:30 p.m. Friday. He was working on East Lewis and Campus Lane.

Proctor was in jail for unauthorized use of an access card.

He was last seen wearing a black and white striped prison uniform. He is 5'11" and 190 pounds, bald headed with blue eyes.
