Lafayette High School has collected $23,600 for the families of four people who died in a Feb. 15 crash involving the school's baseball team.
Principal Patrick Leonard said the money will go toward alleviating the funeral expenses for the victims, and any other family needs.
The Advertiser reports about $11,900 in donations were raised through Lafayette High students and staff. Leonard says other donations came in from the community, several area schools, businesses and more.
Funerals are scheduled Saturday for the victims - three children and the driver of the SUV that crashed into the bus after its rear tire failed.
Leonard says they also plan to raise funds for contract bus driver Amy Dore, who was credited with keeping the bus upright after the crash.
