Lafayette General Medical Center hires a new psychologist. Dr. Glenn Ally serves as the newest addition to the Cancer Center of Acadiana a Lafayette General. Dr. Ally offers decades of medical psychology and clinical neuropsychology experience. As a long-time member of the Lafayette health care community, Dr. Ally will serve cancer patients and survivors in the Lafayette area. The following is a press release sent to us by LGMC about their newest hire:
Cancer Center of Acadiana at Lafayette General (CCA), through its comprehensive approach to cancer treatment, has been a pioneer in patient care for Acadiana. That comprehensive strategy has just been expanded with the addition of psychologist Glenn Ally, Ph.D., MP, to the treatment team.
Dr. Ally, a long-standing member of the Lafayette health care community, brings decades of medical psychology and clinical neuropsychology experience to CCA. His expertise will provide a valuable component of care for cancer patients and survivors. Dealing with cancer can be as mentally devastating as it is physically. Addressing the mental needs of a patient enhances the total care approach that CCA provides.
In addition to compassionate oncologists and radiation therapists, CCA's treatment program features a Patient Navigator, a nurse that serves as liaison to direct proper resources and answer questions that follow a cancer diagnosis. The full professional team also includes dedicated nutritionists, licensed clinical social workers, nurse practitioners and patient educators.
Specialized services include an onsite lab, pharmacy and library/resource room for family consultations. One of the largest infusion centers in the state, staffed with experienced nurses and technicians, provides TVs, books, magazines, blankets, a landscaped courtyard and other amenities that make treatment as pleasant as possible. Valet parking and courtesy transportation are also available.
Dr. Ally is a member of the American Psychological Association, including several state and local professionally affiliated groups and organizations. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and has served as a teacher, presenter and in many other civic activities.
"As our slogan says, we are 'not a normal cancer center,'" says Craig Ortego, Vice President of Cancer Services at CCA. "Dr. Ally's incredible history and experience is a great addition to our staff. Supplementing the skills of our oncologists assures our patients that they will be properly prepared both mentally and physically for their journey through cancer treatment and well into survivorship."
