Lafayette fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a house fire. At 4:09 Friday afternoon, Lafayette firefighters responded to 921 Marilynn Drive to a reported house fire. Witnesses contacted 911 reporting heavy smoke coming from the dwelling. When firefighters arrived, flames were coming through the roof. It took firefighters twenty-five minutes before getting the fire under control. The occupants, Kevin and Sabrina Miles, were at work when the fire started. The master bedroom and bathroom sustained heavy fire damage. The other rooms in the dwelling sustained smoke and water damage.
Fire investigators determined that the fire originated in the master bathroom. The fire spread to the attic and burned through the roof. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
