Lafayette Family Escapes Fire

At 12:05 am last night, Lafayette firefighters responded to 333 Indian Mound Road after to a house fire. When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were coming from the roof and carport area. Firefighters battled the fire for approximately forty-five minutes before getting it under control. The house sustained heavy fire damage.

The occupants were outside when the fire department arrived. Four individuals were inside the dwelling when the fire started. The owner, Juanita Burleigh, her son, Ed and his daughter along with a male relative, were asleep when they began to smell smoke in the house. They all managed to escape without any injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
