Election season will finally be coming to a close this Saturday November 19. The district six Lafayette Parish City council seat is up for grabs. The two candidates beat out invumbent Same Dore in the primaries.
Jared Doise, said, " I can be a huge asset to the council. I'm very good with budgets. I own five businesses across four city council lines."
Naquin said, "they need someone who can be open and honest with them. I'm that man."
The two candidates both want to focus on Lafayette's growth but have different ways of getting there.
Naquin said, "roads and drainage. Those are the things that will help our city grow and if we can concentrate on those things, I think our city will be well on its way to a lot more prosperity."
Both think the parish could improve fiscally. Doise plans to cut back the city's budget.
"We do this through a series of maneuvers, which include a collaboration with other government entities, refinancing some of our long term debt to get those lower interest rates," he said.
Both think drastic changes aren't needed within Lafayette Consolidated Government.
Naquin said" that's one thing I'd change but as far as a drastic change, no I'm talking about that only tweaking things."
"I think Lafayette's headed in the right direction and I would like to be a part of continuing to head in that direction," Doise said.
