Lafayette Detective Recognized by Local Organization

LAFAYETTE, La. - On April 18, 2013, at a ceremony in Lafayette, Detective Todd Borel was recognized by the St. Edmund's Knights of Columbus as their Officer of the Year. Detective Borel, an 11 year veteran of the Police Department, was recognized from his hard work in 2012 on a check counterfeiting case. Borel was instrumental in the arrest of three suspects, who were creating counterfeit checks and using them along the Gulf Coast. Borel and other law enforcement officers recovered from the suspect's hotel room in Lafayette, $155,000.00 in stolen checks, $2500.00 in assets and $1600.00 in cash.
