A controversial waste transfer facility is back on the Lafayette City-Parish Council's radar. A letter to the council indicates a possible lawsuit over the council's move last year to stop the Sunbeam Lane waste transfer facility from opening. For weeks, residents protested its location, just feet away from their homes.

The company that had planned to develop the facility is RR Company. Now, it and the waste hauler company, IESI, have submitted a letter to the council informing them of possible litigation. Tuesday night, the city-parish council will meet in an executive session to discuss the situation and ready themselves for what may soon be on the horizon. The closed-door meeting is scheduled for March 6th at 5:30 P.M.
